The Anna is a dress belt made in Italian full grain Vachetta, the natural vegetable tanned leather of the Tuscan Leather District, lined in Italian vegetable tanned nubuck in natural honey and finished at a slender 20mm, the width that sits with quiet grace on a dress or high on the waist of a pair of trousers.
Vachetta is leather kept close to its natural state. It is vegetable tanned, drawn slowly from the tannins of bark and leaf rather than treated with chemicals, and its surface is left uncoated, so that the grain breathes and the colour settles within the leather rather than sitting on top of it. This is what gives Vachetta its honesty, and its life. It warms, it marks, and above all it deepens, taking on a patina that no two belts will ever share. The mark you leave on it, over the years, is the point of it.
This belt is cut from Vachetta, a natural vegetable tanned leather from Tuscany. It is tanned slowly, with plant extracts in place of chemicals, in a tradition held for generations. Left close to its natural state, it deepens in tone and takes its patina with wear, so the leather becomes a quiet record of the years it is carried. Every Vachetta hide carries the guarantee of the Consorzio Vera Pelle Italiana Conciata al Vegetale, the mark that certifies genuine vegetable tanned leather made in Tuscany.
Because Vachetta is left so close to bare, only a full grain hide of real quality can be used, its surface kept whole rather than sanded away and printed over. There is nowhere for a flaw to hide, and nothing between your hand and the leather. That same surface is what receives the years, softening and gaining depth with wear, so the belt you are given is only the beginning of the belt you will own.
The Anna is offered in three. Red is the boldest, a deep and considered red that warms rather than shouts, finished with a gold buckle that answers its warmth. Olive is the quietest, a soft green that flatters almost everything and turns, in certain light, towards bronze, again with gold. Blue is the calmest of the three, a clear and composed blue finished with a brushed nickel buckle chosen to match its quiet. Each is the same belt, and each is a different mood.
The belt is lined in Italian vegetable tanned nubuck in natural honey, softer against the body than a standard leather lining, and finished so the inside is as considered as the face. It is a detail felt more than seen, and known only to the woman who holds the belt in her hands.
At 20mm the Anna is slender by intent, a dress belt rather than a work belt, cut and finished to sit gracefully and to last. The buckle is imported metalware, in a gold finish on the Red and the Olive and a brushed nickel finish on the Blue, set to the leather so that colour and metal read as one considered object rather than parts brought together. The edges are finished by hand, and the whole is guaranteed for life.

Keep your belt clean and well conditioned. Wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth to lift dust, and from time to time work in a little neutral leather conditioner to feed the leather and protect its surface. Keep it dry, store it with room to breathe, and away from prolonged damp and direct heat. Cared for in this way, the vegetable tanned leather deepens into a patina that becomes, over the years, unmistakably your own.
