Bespoke

Long before James Aston had a name, this workshop made to order. For more than thirty years, some of the finest saddleries in the world sent their exacting briefs to Kanpur, and the workshop answered each one to its own measure, piece by piece, hide by hide. Bespoke is not a service this house added. It is the way this house learnt to work.

What we offer here is that same discipline, turned to you. A belt cut to your waist rather than adjusted towards it. A wallet arranged around what you actually carry. A piece in the leather and colour you chose, made once, and made yours before it is even begun.

The Leather

Chosen from the tanneries the house holds dear: vegetable tanned hides from Italy, England and Spain.

The Colour

From the tannery's own card, or matched with care to a piece you already carry.

The Measure

Cut to you from the first, never merely adjusted afterwards.

The Hardware

Buckle, fitting and finish, chosen together with the piece they will serve.

The Quantity

One for yourself, or a considered run for your firm or your occasion, each made as carefully as the one.

   The Letter

   Write to us with what you imagine. A sentence is enough to begin; the rest is our work to draw out.

2. II

   The Conversation

   We reply personally. Leather, colour, measure, price and time are agreed plainly, before a knife ever touches a hide.

3. III

   The Making

   Cut once, by hand, in Kanpur. A bespoke piece takes the time it takes, and we will tell you honestly how long that is.

4. IV

   The Handing Over

   Dispatched in James Aston packaging, carrying the James Aston Lifetime Warranty on its making, without expiry.

A bespoke piece, being made for a single owner, cannot be returned or exchanged. Its making, however, is guaranteed for the whole of its life. We would rather tell you both things now than surprise you with either later.
