The Ramón
Spanish Full Grain Leather. Cognac. 30mm.
Lifetime Warranty · Hand finished in Kanpur
Ramon is old Spanish for wise protector, and no object wears that name more honestly than a belt. Holding things quietly in place is the whole of its duty, and the Ramon has been doing that duty for its wearers longer than almost any belt in this house.
The strap is a single cut of Spanish full grain vegetable tanned leather, worked to a high raised profile, a bold, rounded crown that runs the full length of the belt and gives it an unmistakable presence at the waist. At thirty millimetres it is the slimmest of the dress belts, made with tailoring in mind, and the imported buckle in a brush nickel polish keeps the whole of it quiet. In cognac, it glows rather than shines, and the years only deepen it.
Vegetable tanning is the patient way. The hide takes its character from tree bark and time rather than haste, and it repays that patience for decades, softening, deepening, and keeping the quiet record of its wearer. The high crown is shaped and burnished by hand until it runs true from tip to buckle, a line you feel under the thumb before you ever see it.
The Ramon has stood among the most asked-for belts of this house for years, a standing that is never advertised into being, only made. And its protection runs both ways: every Ramon carries the James Aston Lifetime Warranty on its making, without expiry. The wise protector, protected for life.
The Ramón is finished with a Spanish lining in a natural tone, the side that sits against the trouser, chosen to complement the full grain exterior and to wear in gently alongside it. The stitching is feather-edged, set close to the edge in a contrasting thread that traces the line of the belt and marks its boundary with precision. The buckle is precisely proportioned for the belt's raised width, in a brushed nickel finish, with the James Aston name engraved on the connecting bar, and the nickel Chicago screw at the keeper secures it cleanly. The billet tip is pointed, finished with the embossed JA mark within its stitched outline.
Ramón means wise protector, and the belt is made in that spirit, steady, substantial, certain of its purpose. It is the belt a man reaches for when he wants something with weight to it, something dependable that holds its shape and its character through long wear. It belongs to the man who values strength that does not need to announce itself.
We stand behind the making of every Ramón for the whole of its life. Should the lining, the buckle, the keeper or the construction ever fail, we repair or restore it. The leather is vegetable tanned and is meant to age. It will deepen and soften into a patina that belongs to you alone. That is not wear. That is the point.

Know your waist size? The table gives your belt size directly.
Wear your trousers. Pass a tape through the belt loops. That measurement in inches is the size to order.
Take any belt you wear comfortably. It does not matter which hole you currently use.
Find the hole you buckle to every day. Whichever it is, that is your hole.
Measure from the buckle post to that hole. That number in inches is your size.

Why no addition is needed. You are measuring a belt worn with clothing, so that allowance is already in the number. Your James Aston belt arrives with the middle hole at your ordered size, two holes either side.
Service & Care
Complimentary shipping across India. Each piece is dispatched in James Aston packaging.
Should the size require adjustment, exchanges are accommodated within the stated period from delivery, with the belt unworn and in its original condition.
The James Aston Lifetime Warranty covers any defect in material or craftsmanship, unconditionally and without expiry. A belt made once, to be carried for a lifetime.
Keep your belt clean and well conditioned. Wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth to lift dust, and from time to time work in a little neutral leather conditioner to feed the leather and protect its surface. Keep it dry, store it with room to breathe, and away from prolonged damp and direct heat. Cared for in this way, the vegetable tanned leather deepens into a patina that becomes, over the years, unmistakably your own.
