There are two moments in a man's morning when he knows he has chosen correctly. The first is when he puts on his shoes. The second is when he threads his belt. The Lorenzo is built for the second moment.
The Lorenzo is made in Italian Vegetable Tanned Bridle leather from one of the most distinguished tanneries in the Tuscan Leather District, the historic heartland of the world's finest vegetable tanned leather, lined in vegetable tanned nubuck and finished with tone on tone stitching that runs the length of the belt in quiet harmony with the leather. At 35mm, it carries itself with the particular weight of something made without compromise.
It begins in Italy, in the Tuscan Leather District, the historic corridor between Florence and Pisa where the world's finest vegetable tanned leather has been produced for over seven centuries. The tanneries of this district do not measure quality in output. They measure it in time. Natural tannins extracted from chestnut bark, quebracho and mimosa are drawn into the hide over weeks of patient immersion, building a leather with a firmness, a depth and a surface character that no accelerated process can replicate.

The Italian Vegetable Tanned Bridle leather begins its life as that vegetable tanned hide. What makes it a category entirely its own is what follows. A craftsman works the hide by hand with a tool called a slicker, stretching and compressing the fibres until the surface achieves an evenness no machine can replicate. The hide is then hot stuffed. A blend of tallow, beeswax, fish oils and cod oil, in a recipe each tannery guards across generations, is worked into the leather under heat until the fats penetrate deep into the fibre structure. The oils and waxes supplement the strength of every thread of the leather from within. They make it resistant to weather not through a surface coating but through the character of the leather itself.
The result is a leather that arrives already possessing the surface depth and firmness that ordinary vegetable tanned leather takes years of wear to develop naturally. The Lorenzo arrives with that character already present. And then, over months and years of wear, it deepens further into something entirely its own.
The Dark Brown colourway is the quieter choice. Not quiet in the way of something modest, but quiet in the way of something that does not need to speak. Worn under a charcoal suit or a navy jacket, it occupies its place without competing with anything above it. The stainless steel buckle, finished in nickel and engraved with the James Aston name, mirrors the leather's restraint exactly. The stitching is warm brown thread running tone on tone along both edges, present only as a line that confirms the belt was made with care.
The Cognac colourway is a different conversation entirely. The Italian Vegetable Tanned Bridle in cognac carries an amber warmth that no amount of description fully prepares you for. It must be seen under warm light to be understood. The gold finish stainless steel buckle does not merely complement this leather. It answers it. The leather and the hardware speak the same language, and together they belong to a particular tradition of European dressing that has nothing to do with fashion and everything to do with understanding what quality looks like. The stitching continues in the same tone on tone approach, cognac thread on amber leather. The gold Chicago screw near the keeper is matched precisely to the buckle finish, a detail that shows the belt was designed as a complete object rather than assembled from parts.
Both colourways carry the vegetable tanned nubuck lining in natural honey, softer against the trouser than standard leather lining, and a detail visible only to the person who holds the belt in their hands.

At 35mm, The Lorenzo sits on the trouser with the composed authority that Italian Vegetable Tanned Bridle leather earns through its structure and density. The billet tip is pointed, carrying the embossed JA mark within a stitched outline. The solid brass Chicago screw, finished in nickel on the Dark Brown and in gold on the Cognac, secures the buckle with the permanence the belt deserves.
The Lorenzo belongs to The Heritage Collection because it was made without shortcuts. Not for a season. Not for a trend. For the years that follow.
We stand behind the making of every Lorenzo for the whole of its life. Should the stitching, the buckle, the keeper or the construction ever fail, we repair or restore it. The leather is vegetable tanned and is meant to age. It will deepen and soften into a patina that belongs to you alone. That is not wear. That is the point.
