The Desk Mat is cut from a single hide of Spanish full grain vegetable tanned milled leather, a broad, honest surface for the place where you write, read and work.
It is vegetable tanned, milled, and left full grain, the whole natural surface of the hide kept intact, so it is firm underhand yet warm, and it carries the small marks of its own making. Laid on the desk each day, it takes a patina from the work done upon it, and grows only better for the use.
The mat is cut clean and its edges are finished and burnished by hand, so it lies flat and true and frames the desk without fuss. At three millimetres it has weight and substance underhand, a surface that stays where it is put.
It is offered in two measures, medium and large, so it suits both the writing desk and the broad working table. Choose the one that fits your surface.
It is made to sit on the same desk for years, and to be better at the end of them than at the beginning. It is guaranteed for the whole of its life. Crafted once, and carried forever.
We stand behind the making of every Desk Mat for the whole of its life. Should the stitching, the edges or the leather ever fail, we repair or restore it. The leather is Spanish full grain, vegetable tanned and left close to its natural state, and it is meant to age. It will deepen into a patina drawn from the work done upon it. That is not wear. That is the point.

Spanish full grain vegetable tanned leather matures with use. Keep it dry, wipe it with a soft dry cloth, and from time to time work in a little neutral leather conditioner to feed it. Marks and a deepening tone are the nature of the leather, not a fault in it. Used daily, it becomes unmistakably your own.
