The Alessandro is a dress belt cut from Italian vegetable tanned embossed leather, worked in a raised, sculptural grain, and lined in Italian vegetable tanned nubuck in a natural honey.
The leather is vegetable tanned in the Italian tradition and then embossed with a deep, patterned grain, so it carries real presence and a bold, sculptural surface in an honest, natural leather. It is finished with feather-edged stitching worked close to the edge, the quiet mark of a belt made with care.
The buckle is imported solid brass, given a high-shine nickel finish, set on a prong platform that sits clean against the leather. It is held by a solid brass Chicago screw, so the buckle can be changed by hand and the belt kept for as long as the leather lasts.
It is lined in Italian vegetable tanned nubuck in a natural honey, soft to the touch and finished to the same standard as the face.

Find the hole you buckle to every day. Whichever it is, that is your hole.
Measure from the buckle post to that hole. That number in inches is your size.
Why no addition is needed. You are measuring a belt worn with clothing, so that allowance is already in the number. Your James Aston belt arrives with the middle hole at your ordered size, two holes either side.

Keep your belt clean and well conditioned. Wipe it gently with a soft dry cloth to lift dust, and from time to time work in a little neutral leather conditioner to feed the leather and protect its surface. Keep it dry, store it with room to breathe, and away from prolonged damp and direct heat. Cared for in this way, the vegetable tanned leather deepens into a patina that becomes, over the years, unmistakably your own.
